MacBook Air (M1, 2020): Best for most people

Pros: The MacBook Air with M1 offers about everything you might desire in an Apple notebook, due to its M1 CPU, which enables record-breaking performance and battery life.

The Mac Book Air, in particular, lasted 14 hours and 41 minutes on our battery test, making it one of the longest-lasting laptops available.

Bigger screen, fewer bezels – that’s the M2 Mac Book Air’s game plan.

Pros: Apple faces a difficult task with the new Mac Book Pro 13.

Its predecessor, the show-stopping M1, caught the world by storm in 2020.

And the ascent appears to be considerably steeper this time.

There’s no slick design refresh or new ports to get excited about.

That means everything is riding on the new M2 SOC, and Apple, as usual, rises to the occasion.

With its new M2 CPU, the 13-inch Mac Book Pro packs a lot of power into a thin and lightweight (3-pound) body – and it even has an excellent keyboard.

Yes, the 13-inch Mac Book Pro contains the same M2 chip as the impending MacBook Air, but because it has a fan inside to keep things cool, this powerful machine can run demanding tasks for longer.

In terms of numbers, the Mac Book Pro scored 8,911 on the Geekbench 5.4 test, outperforming the 4,215 premium laptop average.
